  • What are clothing tags and how to use them.

    1. What are clothing tags?
Clothing tags are descriptors that designers can attach to items they create. They can be used to assist shoppers in finding an item they may be looking for or to put a note on an item for shoppers to see once they are viewing the item in a User Shop.

Tags may include information like the color(s), pose/body the item is designed for, length, style, collection name, designer (the designer of the pose or in case the designer is not the one selling the item), or location on the doll (right or left side for instance).
A note might be something like "this is a recolor of a freebie by JaneDoe".
Tags do not contain commas or some other special characters.

    2. How to view an item's clothing tags
You can view an item's clothing tags in the Wardrobe v3 or in a User Shop.

2a. You can view an item's tags in your Wardrobe if you are in version 3. If you own the item, a right click on the item will bring up a menu, select View Tags (right arrow over if need be to see the list). If there is not a little arrow next to View Tags, that item does not have any tags.

More about the Wardrobe is HERE.

2b. You can view an item's tags on the page for that item in the User Shop.
If you are viewing the item page in a User Shop, the Tags are in the bottom left corner.
The tags are separated with a comma followed by a space.

This particular item is a royal blue necklace for the pose Lady Lace made by jadenite. The item is on the necklaces layer so it was not necessary to tag the item as a necklace. But the designer did include helpful descriptors for color ("blue", "royal" and "royal blue") and for the pose the item is designed for ("lady lace", "ladylace" and "jadenite").

You can use the Shop Wizard to find an item or the User Shop Directory to find the designer's shop. Once in the User Shop you can find the item you want by selecting the layer and browsing the pages for that layer.
More information about the Shop Wizard is HERE and about the User Shop Directory is HERE.

You can also use Outfit Info to pull up an item's page. There is more information about Outfit Info, HERE.

    3. How to search for an item using tags
    Searches are not case sensitive.
It will match an individual tag exactly (so if you enter "dress" it will only return those items with a tag of "dress" and not items with a tag of "dresses").
Multiple tags can be entered at the same time using a comma between them for an OR search. There is not a way to search for AND. A search for "blue, baby blue, sparkly, gown" will return any items with tags "blue", "baby blue", "sparkly" OR "gown".
If you do not find what you are looking for, try breaking phrases up into pieces ("baby blue sparkly gown" may not return anything where "baby blue, sparkly, gown" might) or try similar phrases ("blue" or "light blue" instead of "baby blue" for instance).

You can search for tags in the Shop Wizard or in your Wardrobe.

    3a. In the Shop Wizard
Where it says "Search Tags", enter the tags you want to search for.

More information about the Shop Wizard is HERE.

    3b. In your Wardrobe.
Go to your Wardrobe and select the Magnifying Glass icon from the icon bar.
Select your search criteria and enter the tags you want to look for in the box next to where it says "Enter tags (optional)".

More information about the Wardrobe is HERE.

    4. How to tag your CYO (Create Your Own) items
Multiple tags can be entered at the same time using a comma between them.

Tip: keep tags simple but an accurate description of your product, for example if your product is a baby blue sparkly gown, then you might tag "blue, baby blue, sparkly, gown". Remember that shoppers will use tags to find what they are looking for and tags can bring you new shoppers who may not know about your shop. So use words and phrases others might use that will get them to your item. If you only tag "baby blue sparkly gown", the shopper would only find the item if they searched on that exact phrase (for example, they may be looking for a "sparkly baby blue gown" and they would never get to your item).

4a. When you upload the item(s)
To upload CYO you must have the CYO upgrade, and know how to upload CYO, read more about that HERE, and learn about what CYO is HERE.
Once you are on the Enter Details page, enter the item's tags in the box next to the item under the words "Tags (separate with commas)".

    4b. In your Warehouse
In your warehouse, you will see the CYO items which you have created. Under the one you want to edit the tags for, click "Edit Tags".

You will be taken to this page, where you can view the item with any previously assigned tags, add new tags in the box above the "Add New Tags" button (separate multiple tags with commas), or you can delete old ones by clicking "Remove Tag" next to the tag you want to delete.

There is more information about your Warehouse HERE.
