lol, I come from Newcastle - the home of chavs. we have been saying it long before it became a mainstream word. I think, just think, I have an understanding of what it is.

in the oxford dictionary a chav is defined as "a young lower-class person typified by brash and loutish behaviour and the wearing of (real or imitation) designer clothes." dictionary.com - "a young working-class person whose tastes, although sometimes expensive, are considered vulgar by some"
it's not an acronym, someone made that up to fit it and it stuck.
