I actually just read the Seventeen issue yesterday.

I honestly never realized that it used so much photoshop. I mean, of course they use some, but it never really felt like they were being fake.

And they also do feature girls other than the typical white, blonde, blue-eyed girl. Maybe not as frequently as it could be, but it's not like there's never anyone else in it.

But still, good for her for having a cause that she felt passionately about and pursuing it. It's people like her who are going to change the world.

I'm not totally familiar with Seventeen (not even sure if they sell it here), but I'm more or less relating this story to the kinds of teen magazines I used to read when I was younger. The models they always used were very samey and 'perfect', definitely photoshopped a little and they never, ever varied on body-type. So this is a good step forward imo

~...Not to be debby downer, but it sounds like to me that Seventeen mag did this for publicity & $$, not necessarily the power of one girl. Another thing I don't get is this....Throughout the years I've saw pretty much every magazine do something similar to this like posting the before & after pics of photoshopped models....so what's so big & huge about this....besides the obvious? And to be fair, Seventeen employs 'models' not "real girls". If people wanted to see real girls they'd go to their local mall and I don't think it's fair that this girl is attempting to mess with people's paychecks. I just don't like it.....something is not kosher here at all IMHHO. I don't see this ending well for Seventeen.

That is just...awesome!!! Kudos to her for taking a stand and sticking with it, especially at such a young age. I wouldn't have thought I could change anything when I was that young.
Now let's just hope the magazine holds to this decision

Oh, I've read about this.
I figured they airbrushed but I never realised that they altered face shape and body proportions as well! I'm not even sure I can put my feelings about that into words.

Well... good for them. What confused me the most about that magazine was their "body confidence section and pledge," yet every single page was photoshopped... why have this type of pledge to your readers when you're clearly not giving the respect to girls and showing them that not ever person needs to be walking perfection.
