In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered as specially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories

Dear Mr. D. Wolf, who shall probably never see this rather long letter unless he spends his free time looking at blogs on Divachix, and all of the sadden Law and Order: SVU fans on here:

While I was searching through Tumblr, I discovered that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will be coming back for its Season 13 on Wednesday, September 21st, 2011 on NBC 10eastern/9central.

Although I am pleased to know that the show is coming back so soon, I am also quite sadden because I know that when the season 13 starts, my favorite hothead Detective, Elliot Stabler will not be there. Not only does the fact that Christopher Meloni won't be back as Elliot Stabler, but also the fact that after thirteen episodes go by for Season 13, Mariska Hargitay will leave, and then there will be no more off the badass Detective Benson.

What is this world coming to when two of the best actor(and actress) decides that they are through with playing the dynamic duo? Even though the actor and actress who have always made the show - as said on reviews and other websites - are leaving, Wolf continues to keep the show going.

Out of all the fans out here reading this, how many of you agree that the show will start to go downhill because the producers allowed Meloni to walk, instead of trying to persuade him more? Now, how many agree that once Hargitay departs from the show entirely, that Law and Order: Special Victims Unit will crash and burn?

Who thinks that the show should have ended with the last episode of Season 12, Smoked, because after that the show will never be the same, and therefore will slowly die if he lets it go on? Who agrees that D.Wolf is simply trying to squeeze as much money as he can from the show by keeping the show airing even without the Dynamic Duo?

Is anyone else besides myself upset that he thinks that these characters can simply be replaced? Anyways, I can't believe that Mr.Wolf thinks that some blue eyed, blonde haired actress could ever replace Mariska Hargitay, or that any famous, attractive male actor could replace Christopher Meloni!

News Flash: No one can EVER replace the characters that I have grown up with -- no matter how good they are at acting, how famous they are,or how attracting and pleasing to look at they may be.

If I do decide to keep watching the show, it will be for the plots that I have grown to love, and I will try not to cringe when I see the replacements. I would actually prefer that Detectives John Munch and Odafin Tutuola become the new main characters since Mariska and Christopher are both leaving. Why does Wolf have to get a new actor and actress to play the part of the main characters when he has two actors that we already love just as much as we love Mariska and Chris? There's no true reason why Richard Belzer's and Ice-T's characters can't be the main characters of the show following the Dynamic Duo's exit.

Maybe IF you really have to get two new people to replace Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, then can't they just be secondary characters? I don't think that giving the new actress and actor the role of the main characters will bring the show a lot of viewers.

In fact, I really think that it might actually decrease the views because the fans want to see the detectives that they have grown up with and already love, not some wannabe Benson/Stabler characters. A lot of us don't want to get used to new characters, and I feel that we really don't have to when you still have Ice-T and Richard Belzer on the show full time. Why can't you just let them take over as the main characters? Why have the new characters as main characters when we still have Munch and Fin? The fans love Detective Munch and Detective Fin already! So what could be the harm of having more episodes starring Richard and Ice-T!?

Sincerely,

A very upset SVU fan, who will miss the old days when SVU still had Benson/Stabler.
